The auto-extract option allows audience values to be automatically generated from distinct values from the selected source column instead of manually defining each audience value.
For example, if an audience group Brand can be derived from a single column in the selected attribute group then turning this option on would automatically extract the distinct values and create individual audience values for each. This includes new values that may appear in future updates to the source dataset (or attribute).
Note: If the conditions for audience values are more complex—for example, involving a combination of columns meeting specific criteria—it's best to leave the Auto Extract option off. This allows you to define audience values individually using the condition builder. Auto Extract Fields
In the Audience Builder, you can enable the Auto Extract toggle to activate the Auto Extract feature. When this feature is enabled, the following three fields will be displayed:
- Attribute Group - Select the column of the connected attribute group from where the audience values are to be extracted. In the screenshot below, we are trying to extract all the unique payment methods used from the attribute group Payment Methods.
- Regex - An optional field is used to locate the values to be extracted from the selected source column. If the audience values are to be exactly as seen in the source column, this field should be left blank.
- Retention - Retention defines the number of days a visitor remains valid for an audience. This value is passed to the Audience Sync app(s) to determine if and when to send an audience downstream; however, it is not directly used to calculate or determine a visitor's qualification for an audience.
