The Audience Sync screen consolidates two complementary views to provide a holistic approach to audience management. One view lets users control which audiences are synced with each app, while the other gives a quick overview of linked audiences across apps. Together, these views ensure users can both fine-tune their audience settings and quickly check how everything is connected. The screen is divided into two primary views: List and Audience Synced, each serving different purposes.
This article covers the following topics:
- Audience Synced screen
- Selecting and unselecting audience to send to downstream systems
- Audience List screen
Audience Synced
The Audience Synced screen provides a comprehensive view of all audiences associated with a specific data layer and their sync status across different Audience Sync apps. It allows users to easily track, manage, and modify which audiences are synced with each app by toggling their status on or off. This screen is particularly useful for ensuring that only the desired audience segments are sent to downstream systems, enabling precise control and streamlined integration.
You can follow these steps to navigate to the Audience Synced screen:
- Open the hamburger menu.
- Click on the Audience Sync link under the Audience section. This will take you directly to the Audience Synced screen.
- Select the data layer of your choice to check the audiences
Let’s break down the components of this screen:
-
Audience Values Overview:
- The screen displays all audience values available under the selected data layer.
-
Columns:
- The first column, labeled Audience Group Name, represents the category or grouping to which each audience belongs (e.g., Payment Methods - Laptop Purchases or Payment Methods - TV Purchases).
- The second column, labeled Audience Value, lists the specific audience names (e.g., Paypal - Laptop Purchases, Debit Card-TV Purchases, etc).
- Starting from the third column, each represents an Audience Sync app, with the column headers displaying their respective app names (e.g., Demo Sync 1).
-
Toggles:
-
- Each row in an Audience Sync app column contains a toggle corresponding to an audience.
- A green toggle indicates that the audience is selected for that specific app. In this screenshot, all toggles under Demo Sync 1 column are enabled, meaning all listed audiences are synced with the app.
- A grey toggle (not shown here) indicates that the audience is not selected for the app.
- You can select or unselect an audience for a specific sync app by toggling it ON (green) or OFF (grey).
-
Selecting and Unselecting Audience
To select or unselect an audience for syncing with a downstream system, the toggle in the respective column of the sync app is used. This feature provides a seamless way to manage which audiences are synced with downstream systems, ensuring precision and flexibility in audience targeting. By simply toggling audiences on or off, users can quickly adapt their sync configurations to align with business needs or campaign objectives. Here's how it works:
Selecting an Audience:
- Locate the row corresponding to the desired audience under the column for the sync app.
- If the toggle is grey (OFF), click on it to turn it green (ON). This action selects the audience and ensures it is included in the syncing process for the associated app.
Unselecting an Audience:
- Find the audience row under the specific sync app column.
- If the toggle is green (ON), click on it to turn it grey (OFF). This action removes the audience from the syncing process for the associated app.
Example:
Imagine you have an Audience Sync app called Demo Sync 1 and the following audiences:
- Paypal - Laptop Purchases
- Credit Card - Laptop Purchases
- Debit Card - Laptop Purchases
- Paypal - TV Purchases
- Credit Card - TV Purchases
- Debit Card - TV Purchases
If you want to sync only the audiences who purchased TVs and Laptops using Credit Card, then:
- Turn the toggles for "Credit Card - Laptop Purchases" & "Credit Card - TV Purchases" ON (green).
- Turn the toggle OFF (grey) for other audiences.
This configuration ensures that only "Credit Card - Laptop Purchases" & "Credit Card - TV Purchases" audiences are sent to the downstream system, while others are excluded.
The screenshot below illustrates an example with three audience sync apps:
- Demo Sync 1: Only the "Paypal-Laptop Purchases" and "Paypal-TV Purchases" audiences are synced to the downstream system.
- Demo Sync 2: All audiences are synced to the downstream system.
- Demo Sync 3: Only the "Credit Card-Laptop Purchases" and "Credit Card-TV Purchases" audiences are synced to the downstream system for this app.
Note: When using the Audience Sync app to test audiences in the development workflow, please be aware that selecting or unselecting audiences on this screen impacts both the development and production workflows simultaneously.
Audience List Screen
While the Audience Synced screen offers a detailed, audience-specific view with toggles to manage sync settings for each app, the List screen provides a high-level overview of sync apps and their linked audiences, without the ability to toggle sync statuses directly.
Here's a breakdown of the components:
- Sync Name: This column lists the names of the Audience Sync apps (e.g. Demo Sync 1, Demo Sync 2, Demo Sync 3). Each app represents a configuration for syncing audiences to downstream systems.
-
Audience Linked: This column displays the audiences linked to each sync app.
For example:
Demo Sync 1: Audiences "Paypal- TV Purchases" and "Paypal-Laptop Purchases" are linked.
Demo Sync 2: Displays audiences "Debit Card -TV Purchases", "Paypal - TV Purchases," and a note indicating there are 4 additional audiences (using a "more 4+" button) which are linked to an app.
Demo Sync 3: Audiences 'Credit Card - Laptop Purchases' and 'Credit Card - TV Purchases" are linked. - Edit: The pencil icon in each row allows users to edit the configuration of the corresponding sync app. Clicking the 'pencil' icon takes the user to the production workflow of the Audience Sync app.
